16,000 Jobs Available for Displaced OFWs

The Department of Labor and Employment (DoLE) announced that there will be over 16,000 jobs available for displaced OFWs from Libya.

Labor and Employment Undersecretary Lourdes Transmonte said in a media forum that they have already made arrangements with local business organizations and recruitment agencies for possible employment of the displaced OFWs.
DoLE has already collated the profiles and contact details of the OFWs as they have arrived in the country.

The United States Embassy organized a job fair on March 18 to 20 at SM North EDSA for 6,000 vacancies for highly skilled workers. Thirty US companies will participate in the event.

The Caraga Mining Industrial Tripartite Council has also guaranteed 392 job vacancies for engineers and other skilled workers.

The Philippine Overseas Employment Administration assures the public that they have already arranged with 85 recruitment agencies for possible redeployment of the OFWs to other countries such as Oman, Kuwait and Guam. Ten thousand jobs are expected in Guam while there are no figures yet for Angola, Oman and Kuwait.

Other arrangements are also being made by DoLE with the European Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry for additional employment opportunities for the displaced OFWs.
